Housebuilders say Building Safety Levy is unfair

The Home Builders Federation (HBF) has written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer asking for the proposed Building Safety Levy to be “reconsidered”, and for product manufacturers, who were heavily criticised by the Grenfell Tower Inquiry Phase 2 report, to be forced to make a bigger contribution.

Scotland investing in offshore wind projects

Government slated for failures to advance post Grenfell remediation plans

Eight years after the Grenfell Tower disaster in which 72 people died, for which the construction industry – among others – was castigated for long term failings in its approach to building safety, it seems the government has still not taken steps to discover how many buildings have dangerous cladding, how much it will cost to remedy, or when this will be done.

Liquidated company fined for safety failings that led to an employee’s death

A company now in liquidation has been fined £90,000 and ordered to pay costs of £28,956 following the death of worker Maciej Rozanski who fell through a roof on a site in Dudley.
