Suspended sentence for bankrupt Devon builder

A bankrupt builder has been handed a suspended prison sentence after charging more than £600,000 on a series of projects in south Devon, contravening his Bankruptcy Restrictions Undertaking and in some cases delivering substandard work.

Prompt payment reforms take effect

Large firms signed up to the government’s Prompt Payment Code are now obliged to pay 95% of invoices owed to small businesses within 30 days – half the previous 60 day commitment – following reforms to the code which came into force this week.
