Infrastructure resilience plea to government

The National Infrastructure Commission and Climate Change Committee have written a joint letter to government urging ministers to take steps to improve the resilience of key infrastructure services to the effects of climate change.

Build UK names contract terms to be shunned

Industry representative group Build UK has identified six contract terms that it advises members not to agree to being used on their projects. The advice is non binding, as it has to be under competition law, and Build UK stresses its members are free to negotiate whatever contract terms they like.

Network Rail maintenance cuts to raise accident risk

Leaked documents relating to an internal presentation by Network Rail reveal that the company will not be able to operate, maintain and renew the UK’s rail network at current levels during the next five year funding period. Jail sentence after man dies in roof fall

A man has been jailed after a worker fell from the roof of a commercial property in North London and died a week later. Patrick McCarthy was given a 14-month custodial sentence after the death of Mr Andrei-Ionel Hutanu in 2019.
