Decarbonisation of infrastructure is not happening fast enough to achieve net zero by 2050, with “disappointingly little” movement away from lowest cost procurement towards commercial models that incentivise carbon reduction, an industry report has concluded. Lawyers say planning and procurement rules need overhauling.

Grenfell prompts product testing review

Construction businesses in ‘significant financial distress’ have increased in number by almost 50% over the last year, despite the sector continuing to work throughout the Covid pandemic, according to research from insolvency advisory specialist Begbies Traynor.
