A new tool to help the rail industry measure the social value of its activities including infrastructure projects has been launched. This comes in the wake of Procurement Policy Note 06/20 – ‘Taking account of social value in the award of central government contracts’.

Suppliers unlikely to recover losses after Roadbridge collapse

Collapsed civil engineering contractor Roadbridge UK owed debts totalling £22.5 million to hundreds of suppliers when it fell into receivership in March. These unsecured creditors are unlikely to be able to recover their losses, according to the firm’s administrator Grant Thornton.

Materials supplier prosecuted over forklift injuries

Saint Gobain Building Distribution has been fined £400,000 following an incident which saw workers injured by materials falling from a forklift at the Margate, Kent premises of its subsidiary: builders' merchant Jewson.
