Contractors sentenced after Manchester cable strike injury

A principal contractor and subcontractor have been fined a combined total of more than £1 million after an employee suffered serious eye damage in an explosion caused by a cable strike during construction works at a substation in Manchester. The industry has been warned of the dangers of working near electricity networks.
