Legal terms explained: Hot tubbing

“Hot-tubbing” is another term for “concurrent expert evidence”. It refers to a dispute resolution procedure in which both parties’ experts give their evidence together at a hearing or trial, with questions being posed to the experts at the same time by the judge or arbitrator(s).

National Highways details new Transformation Delivery Partner contract

National Highways has published a Contract Notice for a transformation delivery partner to “provide a centralised vehicle for transformation and change” to deliver efficiency targets in capital and operational spending during its third Roads Investment Strategy period (RIS3) from 2025 to 2030.

Roadmap points way to increased nuclear investment

The government has moved to give potential investors more long term certainty of investment plans by publishing a Civil Nuclear Roadmap that holds out the hope of at least one new nuclear power station of the same size as Hinkley C or Sizewell C being built every five years from 2030 to 2044.

Date given for delayed rules on biodiversity net gain to be introduced

New government rules for biodiversity net gain (BNG) will come into force on 12 February 2024, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has confirmed. An extension has been granted until 2 April for small sites.
