A refreshed suite of guidance on managing Covid-19 impacts within construction contracts has been published by the Construction Leadership Council, which continues to express concern over the prospect of expensive and lengthy disputes arising from the pandemic.

Scaffolder sentenced over electrocution death

A Welsh scaffolding company has been fined after being found guilty of safety failings which resulted in the death of an employee who was electrocuted when a lorry mounted crane he was operating came into contact with a power line.

Unsafe street works land fine for utilities firm

Transport for London has successfully prosecuted utilities company Thames Water for four safety related street works offences which were committed at three locations across the capital. Fines of £100,000 have been secured from the firm.

Appeal court rules on adjudication enforcement for insolvent firms

A High Court ruling which dismissed an insolvent construction company’s application for a summary judgment to enforce an adjudicator’s decision in its favour has been upheld by the Court of Appeal in John Doyle Construction v Erith Contractors.
