New judge takes charge of Technology & Construction Court

Mrs Justice Finola O’Farrell has taken over as the new Judge in Charge of the Technology & Construction Court (TCC). She replaces the Hon Mr Justice Fraser in the role, who had been the Judge in Charge of the TCC since February 2018.

Loss of arm accident leads to £250,000 fine

A construction firm has been ordered to pay a fine and costs totalling £350,000 after a self employed, insufficiently trained ground worker lost his arm following an incident involving a disc cutter at a site in Cornwall.

Celotex fire test was not “underhanded”, Inquiry hears

The contractor who installed an ‘over engineered’ test rig designed by insulation manufacturer Celotex to ensure its RS5000 product received a pass for fire safety has said he was not aware of any “underhanded” behaviour and that the composition of the rig was “clear for anybody to see”.
